Pro-Palestinian demonstrators shouted anti-Jewish slogans, burned Israeli flags to the tune of “Allah Akbar” and waved flags of terrorist Hamas group in the streets of Brussels on Saturday.
‘’Shouts of murderous hatred against my country and my people in the streets of Brussels. And all in the name of “freedom of speech,” tweeted Israel’s ambassador to Belgiium, Emmanuel Nahshon.
During the night of Friday to Saturday, pro-Palestinian slogans were spray-painted on the facade of the headquarters of the Belgian liberal party MR in the center of the Belgian capital. A large inscription “Free Palestine” in red letters could be seen.
In Paris, police officers used tear gas and water cannons on Saturday to disperse a pro-Palestinian rally held despite a ban by the authorities, who feared a flare-up of antisemitic violence like similar protests in 2014 when protesters took aim at synagogues and other Israeli and Jewish targets.
Rallies also took place Saturday in London, Madrid, The Hague and Berlin.
In London, Channel 12 news aired footage of protesters marching on an Israeli flag placed on the ground in London as well as other Israeli flags being ripped up and thrown into the air.
A pro-Israel solidarity demonstration is organized on Sunday in front of the Israeli embassy in Brussels and other cities in the world.
