PARIS —-In a letter to Greek Prime MInister Alexis Tsipras the Simon Wiesenthal Centre Director for International Relations, Dr. Shimon Samuels, has expressed “outrage at a hatemongering headline’’ published in the online edition of MAKELEIO newspaper.

‘’Its reputation as a yellow press scandal rag does not excuse it for fomenting to hatred and violence against the small Jewish community of Greece,” he said, in a reference to an attack in the paper against Minos Moissis, President of KIS, the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece, as a ’cruel Jew at the head of a company of crows that has been assigned to liquidate the red loans (past due debts) of poor Greeks.’’ ‘’President of the Jewish community, he pretends to be friendly and takes our money from the back door,” writes the article.

The letter warned that, “such incitement engenders an atmosphere encouraging such acts as the Christmas “paint-bomb” recent attack on the Israeli Embassy in Athens by a reportedly extreme left group calling itself Rubicon.”

In  the letter, Samuels insisted that “the media must be advised that their incitement makes them complicit in the consequences…” and that “ Police must be investigated for their dereliction of duty to defend the security of the Israeli Embassy. This time it was ‘paint-bombs’, next could be explosives…” ‘

“In the absence of governmental measures, our Centre must consider reactivating its Travel Warning Advisory to ensure that the Jewish condition in Greece does not cross the Rubicon,” concluded Samuels.
