After a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told the press that the ministers ‘’had a good discussion on how to continue to preserve in full the nuclear deal with Iran.’’ She added : We have had unanimity among member states on the need both to make faster and more operational INTEX, the instrument that we have put in place to preserve legitimate trade with Iran but also to continue working for Iran’s return to full compliance with the nuclear deal.’’

JERUSALEM/BRUSSELS—Europe will only “wake up” to the Iranian threat when Iranian nuclear weapons are falling on the continent, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said  as he slammed the European Union for failing to sanction Iran for its frecent breach of the 2015 nuclear deal.

At their monthy meeting in Brussels on Monday, EU Foreign Ministers discussed the Iranian issue ‘’in light of the developments in the region and recent annoucements and seps by Tehran to reduce its implementation of certain aspects of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal.’’

After the meeting, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told the press that the ministers ‘’had a good discussion on how to continue to preserve in full the nuclear deal with Iran.’’ She added : We have had unanimity among member states on the need both to make faster and more operational INTEX, the instrument that we have put in place to preserve legitimate trade with Iran but also to continue working for Iran’s return to full compliance with the nuclear deal.’’

Mogherini, said that the five remaining parties to the Iran nuclear deal do not see Tehran’s breaches as significant non-compliance, and have not indicated any intent to trigger the accord’s dispute mechanism.

“For the time being, none of the parties to the agreement have signaled their intention to invoke this article, which means that none of them for the moment, for the time being with the current data we have had in particular from the IAEA, that the non-compliance is considered to be significant non-compliance,” she said at the press conference after Monday’s meeting.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Netanyahu said the European reaction to the Iranian violations of the nuclear accord “are reminiscent of the European appeasement policy of the 1930s. Then too, there were those who buried their heads in the sand and did not see the coming danger.”

“It seems that there are those in Europe who won’t wake up until an Iranian nuclear weapon falls on European soil,” he quipped. “By then it’ll be too late.”

“In any event,” Netanyahu declared, “we will do everything to prevent Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon.”
