The annual dinner of Crif, the umbrella representative group of Jewish institutions of France, which was due to take place on Tuesday in Paris, has been postponed because of the exceptional sanitary situation in France caused by the new coronavirus outbreak,’’ the group announced.
French President Emmanuel Macron has been scheduled to address the dinner which is an annual political event attended by government ministers, lawmakers, diplomats, religious leaders and influential members of the civil society
‘’We have decided, in agreement with the President, to postpone the 35th Crif dinner,’’ said Francis Kalifat.
The continued rise of anti-Semitism in France – +27% in 2019 – was due to have been the main topic of the political event, with representatives of Jewish institutions expecting a ‘’strong statement’’ from the president.
