Lapid is accompanied by Holocaust survivors Pnina, Avraham, Shoshana, Yisrael, and Zvi.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid is to have talks Monday in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Schol, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The talks are expected to mainly focus on the Iran nuclear deal.
Germany, France and the United Kingdom issued a statement over the weekend expressing what they called “serious doubts” over Iran’s intention in seeking a deal.
The meeting between Lapid and Steinmeier will be held at the house of the Wannsee Conference outside of Berlin — the site where the Nazis planned the Final Solution (the destruction of the Jews in German-occupied Europe).
Lapid, who arrived Sunday in the German capital, is accompanied by Holocaust survivors Pnina, Avraham, Shoshana, Yisrael, and Zvi.
“This evening, I arrived in Berlin for a diplomatic visit accompanied by Holocaust survivors Pnina, Avraham, Shoshana, Yisrael, and Zvi. As we stepped off the plane together and onto German soil, we were welcomed by a German military honor guard,’’ he said.
He added, ‘’This is their victory, mine as the son of a Holocaust survivor and ours as a people and a nation. We will never forget.”
