A new report from the Anti-Defamation League shows an uptick in activism against the State of Israel and its student advocates.

The ADL identified 665 anti-Israel acts on universities from the 2022-23 school year. This included nine vandalisms, 24 incidents of harassment, three BDS resolutions, 303 events and 326 protests. There were no violent assaults, down from one the previous year.

Researchers found the last two years’ largest areas of anti-Zionist activism’s growth in events (from 143 to 303) and protests (165 to 326.) The ADL cautioned that “many but not all incidents may be characterized as antisemitic.”

The report names Students for Justice in Palestine as “the largest and most active campus anti-Israel group in the U.S.,” which “appeared to be less restrained in expressing support for U.S. State Department-designated terrorist organizations and individuals who are known to have killed Israelis.”

Among anti-Zionist campus events, the ADL writes that they ”featured sessions advocating for BDS, promoting anti-Zionism or propagating the idea that Israel is an apartheid state akin to apartheid South Africa.”
