London Police are investigating a vicious assault on a pregnant woman in Stamford Hill neighbourhood where she was repeatedly punched by her attacker, British media reported.
Stamford Hill,, located in north London, is home to the largest community of Hasidic Jews in Europe.
CCTV footage posted by the Orthodox defence organisation Shomrim shows the man following the woman into an alley off Manor Road at around 6.30pm.
He then runs up behind, thrusts a black pillow or bag over her head and hits her several times before scurrying off.
Shomrim said that the 20-year-old victim, who was 27 weeks’ pregnant, was “rushed to hospital with injuries”.
Police said the woman suffered minor injuries.
According to the paper, there had been a spike in assaults on Jewish women in the area over the past month.
Shomrim said they had received assurances from the police and local council that patrols were being stepped up.
