Ukraine says it recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, will open an embassy in the city

Ukraine will open a branch of its embassy in Jerusalem in the coming year upon a visit by Ukrainiian President Volodymyr Zelensky (pictured).

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk declared that his country recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s “one and only capital.”

Ukraine will open a branch of its embassy in the city in the coming year upon a visit by Ukrainiian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The announcement came in the framework of an event celebrating 30 years of Israel-Ukraine relations, which was attended by Israeli Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Ze’ev Elkin, who grew up in Ukraine.

The embassy branch in Jerusalem would be responsible for promoting bilateral trade and technological ties.
