Trump to Netanyahu: If elected I will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s undiided capital, ‘’There will be extraordinary strategic, technological, military and intelligence cooperation between the two countries’

NEW YORK (EJP)—Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that under a Trump administration ‘’there will be extraordinary strategic, technological, military and intelligence cooperation between the two countries,’’ when he met Sunday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York.

According to a statement from the Trump campaign, Trump recognized Israel as ‘’a vital partner of the United States in the global war against radical Islamic terrorism.”

The Republican nominee also said he would recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital and described American defense assistance to Israel as an “excellent investment for America.”

“Mr. Trump acknowledged that Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish People for over 3,000 years, and that the United States, under a Trump administration, will finally accept the long-standing Congressional mandate to recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the State of Israel,” the statement added.

According to the Trump campaign, “Mr. Trump recognized that Israel and its citizens have suffered far too long on the front lines of Islamic terrorism. He agreed with Prime Minister Netanyahu that the Israeli people want a just and lasting peace with their neighbors, but that peace will only come when the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State.”

The meeting took place at the Trump Tower in Manhattan, New York.

Netanyahu’s bureau later released a statement saying the Prime Minister “thanked Mr. Trump for his friendship and support of Israel.”

“Prime Minister Netanyahu presented to Mr. Trump Israel’s stance regarding regional issues related to Israel’s security and its efforts to bring peace and stability to the region,” the statement read.

After his meeting with Trump, Netanyahu met with Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
