Over 2,000 families, Muslims, Jews, and Christians – including both Israelis and Palestinians – joined one of the world’s largest virtual Iftar events on Wednesday.

SodaStream International LTD., the Israel-based  company best known as the maker of the consumer home carbonation product of the same name, continued its tradition of hosting Israel’s largest Ramadan break-fast event, this time virtually due to the pandemic.

The company distributed thousands of food baskets to their Muslim workers in advance of the event, which included a ceremonial meal, blessings from a local imam and a live concert from Jewish-Arab duo Dudu Aharon and Sharif.

SodaStream said that its commitment to co-existence ‘’remains paramount to its core identity.’’

Since 2015, the company is based in Rahat, a Bedouin village, 22km from the Gaza border in the Negev desert of Israel.

At this facility, 2,000 people from a range of religious, national and cultural backgrounds, including Jews, Arabs, Israelis and Palestinians work side by side in peace and harmony. The factory is called the “Island of Peace”.

SodaStream prints the Israeli flag with a message of coexistence “this product is produced by Jews and Arabs working side by side in peace and harmony” on its 50 million products sold every year in 46 countries globally.
