OSLO—A mass show of support for Israel was organized this weekend in Oslo, Norxay, by ‘Med Israel for Fred ‘ (MIFF)  (For Israel With Peace), a leading pro-Israel organization in Norway.

1500 people, including leading Norwegian parliamentarians and Members of the Knesset,  came together in a festive celebration of 70 Years of the State of Israel’s independence at the Oslo Concert Hall.

The Israeli delegation included Members of Knesset Aliza Lavie, Chair of Knesset’s Israel – Norway Parliamentary Friendship Group,  MK Amir Ohana and MK Anat Berko.

They took part in the the General Assembly of MIFF. Lavie spoke about the rising Antisemitism in Europe, while Berko addressed the topic of ‘Radical Islamic Terror’ and Ohana discussed the ‘Oslo Accords’ 25 years ago, saying “Israel wanted peace, but instead we got bloodshed.”

All three also participated in a panel, addressing a wide range of issues on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, regional issues and domestic concerns.

The Israeli-Jewish Congress (IJC), an independent Israel-based organization supporting the Jewish state in Europe and the international community, joined the Israeli delegation during a meeting at the foreign ministry with Norwegian State Secretary Audun Halvorsen and at the Parliament with the Norwegian Parliamentary Friendship Group with Israel, headed by Hans Fredrik Grovan. They were joined at both meetings by Israel’s Ambassador to Norway Raphael Schutz, who finishes his time as Ambassador to Norway this summer.

It was agreed that members of the Norwegian Parliamentary Friendship would visit Israel this year.

“It is a great privilege for IJC to help lead this historic delegation to Norway, joining our distinguished Members of Knesset in celebrating Israel’s milestone 70 years of independence, as well as strengthening bilateral relations with Norway and showing our support to MIFF, who are at the forefront of fighting BDS, media bias and advocating for Israel in Norway,” said Arsen Ostrovsky, IJC Executive Director.
