Paris condemns Iranian attack in ‘strongest possible terms’

“France reaffirms its commitment to Israel’s security and reinforces its solidarity,” FM Stéphane Séjourné said.

France on Saturday night condemned “in the strongest terms” the Islamic Republic’s attack against Israel.

“By deciding on such an unprecedented action, Iran is taking a new step in its destabilizing actions and taking the risk of a military escalation,” French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné wrote on X.

“France reaffirms its commitment to Israel’s security and reinforces its solidarity,” he added.

Iran dispatched over 100 unmanned aerial vehicles from its territory towards Israel on Saturday night, in a much-anticipated response to the April 1 killing of several IRGC officers in Syria.

The drones were expected to take several hours to reach their targets in the Jewish state.

On Tuesday, Séjourné warned that Paris could sanction Israel unless more aid starts passing into the Gaza Strip.

“There must be levers of influence, and there are multiple levers, going up to sanctions, to let humanitarian aid cross checkpoints,” he told RFI radio and France 24 television.
