The Labour Party is being investigated by the Equality and Human Rights Commission over claims of institutional antisemitism. It is due to issue its report this year.

The 57-year-old Keir Starmer made a fulsome apology to British Jews as he was confirmed as Jeremy Corbyn’s replacement, vowing to rip out the ‘poison’ that has dogged the party under his predecessor.

“As the new leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir has no time to lose in making good on his pledge to ‘take personal responsibility’ for the Party’s antisemitism crisis and rebuild relations with the Jewish community,’’ said Gideon Falter, Chief Executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism, in a reaction to the election of Keir Starmer as new leader of the Labour Party. Starmer succeeds Jeremy Corbyn.

‘’This must start with addressing our outstanding complaints against Jeremy Corbyn and disciplining him in order to send a message that anti-Jewish racism no longer has a home in the Labour Party. Only once Sir Keir has shown that he is serious in tackling antisemitism can the Jewish community begin to engage with him in earnest,” Falter added.
