Israel’s President Rivlin: ‘We deeply appreciate EPP’s support of Israel’

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin: “I feel at home in this group – a group of true friends of Israel."

JERUSALEM—“We deeply appreciate EPP’s support of Israel in all forums,” Israeli President Reuven Rivlin told a working meeting with a delegation of the European People’s Party (EPP) group of the European Parliament.

The group was headed by Bulgarian MEP Andrey Kovatchev MEP,  the deputy leader of the EPP group and its spokesperson on Middle East affairs.

EU’s Ambassador of the European Union to Israel, Emanuele Giaufret, also participated in the meeting.

As he welcomed the group, President Rivlin said: “I feel at home in this group – a group of true friends of Israel.”

Seaking about the challenges facing Israel and the European Union, he added, “You arrive at an important time: Our challenges are your challenges. We must work together to face these challenges which are changing the world as a whole, and Europe in particular.”

The EPP is the largest group in the EU parliament.
