Nearly ten days into ‘’Operation Guardian of the Walls’’ against Hamas and the launch of approximately 3,750 rockets and missiles into Israel from the Gaza Strip,  Israel’s achievements are unprecedented compared to previous rounds of fighting in Gaza, according to analysts and intelligence sources.

Specifically,  the destruction of the Gaza underground tunnel system, so called “metro”, deprives Hamas of a critical strategic capability, they say.

Israel is prepared to continue the campaign as needed and time is on its side because as the military campaign continues, Hamas’ achievements and its capabilities are diminished, the sources added.

There is an internal criticism within Hamas about its leader, Yahya Sinwar, whose initiative to enter into a conflict with Israel set Gaza Strip back very significantly.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad have suffered failures. For example, many rockets fired at Israel fell short, landing in Gaza, resulting in Palestinian casualties, including children.

Prior to the hostilities, Israel invested in infrastructure in electricity, health and sewage infrastructure  to allow for normalcy in Gaza.  Despite this, irrationally, Hamas initiated an attack  on Israel.

This also leads Israel to the understanding  that it must act resolutely and aggressively in the face of the threat of Hezbollah’s precision missiles in the north that the State of Israel will not be able to allow such a campaign in the north, the sources said. Israel will be willing to pay a heavy price to prevent Hezbollah from acquiring precision missiles capabilities.

Israel is said to be interested in regional stability and therefore wants to reach a settlement with the Palestinian people.  The residents of the West Bank enjoy peace, stability and economic prosperity. Their situation is immeasurably better than the residents of Gaza thanks to the normalcy and security stability

Israel wanted the situation in the Gaza Strip to be similar, but Hamas for political reasons won’t allow for normalcy, the sources noted.
