Israeli PM Bennett: ‘’So long as Israel remains strong, Jewish people around the world will be strong”

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

‘’So long as Israel remains strong, Jewish people around the world will be strong,’’ said Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in  a video address to a symposium on the fight against antisemitism in Krakow, Poland.

The two-day symposium, organized Monday by the European Jewish Association (EJA), reunites dozens of ministers, parliamentarians and diplomats as well as Jewish community leaders  from across Europe to discuss how to intensify education on the Holocaust. It will be followed by a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps.

‘’Anti-Semitism is not about the Jews. It is about the Anti-Semites. It’s their hatred, hostility, and de-humanizing allegations against the Jewish people. Its their attempts to kill, attack or harm Jews in the name of radical ideologies,’’ Bennett said.

‘’When a Jew is heckled in Johannesburg, I hurt here in Jerusalem. When a Jew is attacked in Paris, we fell the pain here in Israel. When Jews are murdered in Pittsburgh the whole Jewish world grieves together. We are one! And we have your backs. And we will defeat this together,’’ he added.

‘’It is worrying that there needs to be a conference about Anti-Semitism in Auschwitz so soon after the Holocaust,’’ the Israeli premier said.

He recalled that in the Middle Ages Jews were persecuted because of their religion. ‘’In the 19th and 20th centuries Jews were iviled because of their race, and today Jews are attacked because of their Nation State,  Israel. We must all join hands to combat antiSemitism and its modern manifestation, anti-Zionism,’’ he concluded.
