An Israeli man was critically wounded on Saturday evening in a shooting attack in central Tel Aviv.

The terrorist was shot and neutralized, according to authorities.

Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai said the victim was a municipal security guard who had engaged the terrorist.

Shabtai identified the attacker as a 27-year-old Palestinian from the Jenin area who was in possession of a “martyrdom” letter.

The police chief said the two officers attempted to stop the terrorist, who ignored their overtures and opened fire on them as they got off their motorcycles.

The second officer then chased after the terrorist and shot him.

Security services were investigating whether the Palestinian assailant had accomplices and how he entered Israel proper.

This is a developing story.
