We want to have relations with other countries, Israel is not among these countries,” said the new Taliban government spokesperson Suhail Shaheen said.

Israel is the only country with which the new Taliban government in Afghanistan is not willing to establish ties.

“Of course, we won’t have any relation with Israel. We want to have relations with other countries, Israel is not among these countries,” the new government spokesperson Suhail Shaheen said.

He said the Taliban were willing to work with the US. “Yes, of course, in a new chapter if America wants to have a relation with us, which could be in the interest of both countries and both peoples, and if they want to participate in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, they are welcome”, he added.

The Taliban, which is an Islamic fundamentalist group, has a history of supporting al-Qaeda. , which routinely makes threats against Israel and uses anti-Israel rhetoric in its propaganda.

‘’The foreign policy decision to avoid relations with Israel is guided solely by antisemitism. No other international relations concept can explain it, since no other such concept applies to any other countries or religious minority community in the same way,’’ writes Seth J. Frantzman in The Jerusalem Post.

‘’Thus, the antisemitic speeches of Malaysia’s former leader spell out openly the underlying concepts that guide those in Pakistan and other places. The Taliban have no real reason to reject relations with Israel, except the implied antisemitism that says such rejection is normal in their milieu.’’
