Israeli President Isaac Herzog was scheduled to depart for the United Arab Emirates on Thursday to attend COP 28, the U.N. Climate Change Conference.

The president will use the venue to hold a series of diplomatic meetings regarding the release of those hostages still in the hands of Hamas.

The meetings will highlight to world leaders the atrocities committed by the terrorist organization during the abhorrent massacre perpetrated against Israel on Oct. 7, emphasize the fundamental security threat faced by Israel and stress the country’s duty to defend its people.

To date the terror group has returned 104 hostages it seized on Oct. 7, and is believed to still be holding 145.

Herzog intends to engage world leaders in a high-level humanitarian effort to return the hostages, while emphasizing Israel’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, which are an integral part of the overall campaign against Hamas.
