Hateful and antisemitic tags discovered on house of elected official in eastern France

PARIS—Hateful, racist and anti-Semitic tags were discovered on the house of an elected official in Schiltigheim, near Strasbourg, in eastern France.
Danielle Diligent, who is vice-president of the departmental council, discovered the tags on the facade of her home.
The tags didn’t target her directly but several other political figures in the region, including the mayor of Strasbourg Roland Ries and the president of the Strasbourg University Michel Deneken.
The mayor of Schiltigheim Danielle Dombach denounced ‘’ an unspeakable act of vandalism with an anti-Semitic character.” The prefect of the Lower-Rhine region, Jean-Luc Marx, condemned the act and ensured that “police services are mobilized and already proceed to the findings and investigations to allow to make all the light on this case.’’
The Alsace region has been the scene of several anti-Semitic and racist acts in recent months. Antisemitic and racist graffiti have been inscribed on the walls of several town halls, the permanence of a deputy and the walls of an old synagogue.
