A knife-wielding man broke into a Jewish day nursery in Champigny-sur-Marne, near Paris, and threatened the director with insults. “Dirty Jew, dirty Zionist, we’ll come and cut you up like in Gaza”, the attacker shouted at the 45-year-old mother.

The extremely violent incident took place Tuesday at around 3:30pm. The individual in question managed to enter the school through an unlocked door before heading straight for the office.

The school’s headmistress has lodged a complaint and says she is still in shock.

She said the incident lasted less than a minute in total and that the individual fled without paying any attention to the children.

She described him as a North African man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The assailant is still being sought. An investigation was opened by the public prosecutor’s office for threatening to kill on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nation or religion

On Monday, another anti-Semitic incident took place in the heart of Paris, in the 17th district. A man approached a passer-by and asked her if she was Jewish. When she replied in the negative, the man brandished a knife and told her: “You’re lucky, otherwise you’d have taken this in the gut”. The man was quickly arrested by the police.
