Dozens of mezuzahs removed from homes of Jewish residents in Antwerp by Muslim refugee

ANTWERP—Dozens of mezuzahs were removed from homes of Jewish residents in Antwerp on Saturday.

Security cameras installed in the area have revealed that the author was a Muslim refugee who was arrested a few weeks ago when he placed Koranic books in synagogues.

Local police are investigating the incident.

This is a second anti-Semitic incident in the past two weeks in the city, home of a large Jewish community.

Two weeks ago, a local Muslim was suspected of trying to ram with his car an Orthodox man and his child walking in the center of the city on their way to the synagogue.

A Belgian watchdog group on anti-Semitism said the near ramming of the two Jews was a racist attack but police said the suspect was inebriated and was charged merely with reckless driving.
