He stressed his admiration for Israel he added: “I will fight very hard for the security of the Jewish state.”

 

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that he will visit Istrael next year for its 75th birthday.

He also told a reception organized by the Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) that he would pass new laws to ban boycotts of Israel, forge close ties with Israel through a free trade deal and work together to stop Iran getting nuclear weapons.

“Next year I will visit Israel on what will be its 75th birthday and landmark year – after so many years of struggle and also success,’’ Sunak said.

He stressed his admiration for Israel he added: “I will fight very hard for the security of the Jewish state.”

Sunak said Israel was now at the forefront of “remarkable achievements” in technology which he said were “something which Israel’s detractors in the Boycott Disinvestment Sanctions (BDS) movement would do away with.”

He said Israel was “an incredibly important ally of the United Kingdom”, adding that the relationship between the two countries had made their citizens healthier and safer thanks to collaboration over Covid vaccines, “more prosperous thanks to record trade flows, and also safer as a result of close security and military cooperation.’’

The Prime Minister also noted that the United Kingdom will vote against a forthcoming resolution at that United Nations General Assembly relating to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) along with “our allies.”

The resolution requests an advisory opinion on ”Israel’s occupation in the West Bank”..
