Biden’s Israel visit: A timeline

U.S. President Joe Biden Iis set to touch down in Israel at 15:30 local time on Wednesday, kicking off a highly anticipated regional trip.

15:30 – Landing of Air Force One in Israel.

15:45 – Biden will be received in an official welcome ceremony at Ben-Gurion International Airport, with the participation of Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Alternate Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

The ceremony will include brief welcoming remarks, a red carpet, flags and the national anthems of both countries.

16:15 – Biden will be shown elements of Israel’s multi-tiered air defense array—including the Iron Beam laser for shooting down rockets, UAVs and mortar shells—which have been brought to the airport for the visit. Prime Minister Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz will provide an overview of bilateral security cooperation.

17:35 – Lapid and Herzog will accompany Biden for a ceremony at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial museum.

11:15 – Lapid and Biden will meet privately and then hold an expanded meeting with their staffs.

12:30 – Lapid and Biden will participate in the first-ever I2U2 virtual summit along with the leaders of India and the United Arab Emirates. The I2U2 was established in October 2021 following an initiative by the four countries’ foreign ministers.

13:30 – Lapid and Biden will hold a press conference.

17:30 – Lapid and Biden will attend a ceremony at the Israeli President’s Residence.

19:50 – Lapid and Biden will attend the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah Games at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. The “Maccabiah Torch” will be lit upon the opening of the games.

Friday, 15 July 2022 

Lapid and Herzog will escort U.S. President Biden to Air Force One prior to departure.
