Ariel Sharon facing ‘final hours’, says Sheba Medical Center

JERUSALEM (EJP)—Israel’s former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is facing his “final hours”, according to the hospital where he is treated.

The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer said the 85-year-old Sharon continued to be in “grave” condition since his medical status deteriorated beginning of January. Sharon’s vital organs have failed, including his kidneys and his lungs.

He has been comatose since January 4, 2006 when he suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Only a ‘miracle’ could save his life, a doctor said.

The hospital downgraded Sharon’s status to very critical on Thursday. Hospital officials said he was in immediate danger of death and that others in his condition would not have lasted as long as he has.

Sharon’s family gathered at the hospital to be with him in his final moments. His sons Omri and Gilad have been by his side since his condition deteriorated.
