Jewish groups in the US praise President Trump’s decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran

US President Donald Trump reimposed US nuclear sanctions on the Iranian regime.

NEW YORK—-World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder on Tuesday praised US President Donald Trump’s decision to allow sanctions to go forward on Iran, calling it an “unmistakable message to Iran and its allies that its very real threats against the United States and all other free and democratic nations in the world will not be tolerated.”

“Iran is a rogue nation ruled by a regime that cannot be trusted to honor its word, and even more so with nuclear capabilities that would enable it to wreak havoc on the world and cause a catastrophic arms race in the region,” Lauder said.

“President Trump has taken a courageous step today in making it ever clear to the Islamic Republic that he will not stand by in silence as it continues to subvert the nuclear agreement and exploit the good faith of the international community.  We urge other countries to follow this administration’s example and not allow Iran to flout international law.”

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) strongly praised President Donald Trump ‘’for fulfilling his campaign promise to abrogate the dangerous and catastrophic Iran nuclear deal, negotiated by Barack Hussein Obama, and reinstating US nuclear-related sanctions on Tehran.’’

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “The ZOA is thrilled President Trump kept yet another campaign promise in ending the catastrophic Iran deal which I painfully believe President Obama instituted to strengthen the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ability to harm Israel.

“This deal essentially guaranteed Iran a pathway to nuclear weapons, to a nuclear weapons break-out capacity in about a decade. As such, it was not a viable national security deal, despite what its apologists have been saying about its vaunted ability to contain Iran’s nuclear ambitions.’’

He added “We urge President Trump to make clear that if Iran doesn’t end its nuclear weapons program, allow inspections of all sites that might be suspected of involvement in nuclear weapons-related activities, and stop developing intercontinental ballistic missiles, he will be compelled to consider US military action and quite possibly support Israeli military action as well. ‘’

Jonathan A. Greenblatt, CEO of the The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), said :  “With or without the JCPOA (the nuclear agreement°, the Administration, Congress and the international community must  cooperate to reach an end that all desire: to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, its aggressive militarism across the region, its direct threats against Israel and other U.S. regional allies, and its unacceptable, systemic human rights violations against ethnic and religious minorities, women, LGBTQ, activists and other groups inside Iran.’’

‘’The recent revelations of Iran’s nuclear archives demonstrate the regime’s long record of deceit and its intent to weaponize its nuclear capabilities. It underscores that it is imperative for the international community to cooperate to halt the threat that the Iranian regime poses in the Middle East and around the world,’’ he added.

He continued : ‘’‘’ADL has long expressed concern regarding Iran’s aggressive policies that are not constrained by the JCPOA, including its hostile regional policies (its increasing entrenchment in Syria being just one); its untrammeled development of a nuclear-capable ballistic missile program; its serial support of terrorism; and its state-sponsorship of anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism; and its ongoing human rights violations against vulnerable minority communities and activists inside Iran.’’
