RIO DE JANEIRO—Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has confirmed that he will move his country’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The primary country objecting to it is Iran, he said, and not Arab nations.

“The decision is taken; it’s only a matter of when it will be implemented,” he said in an interview to SBT television.

While campaigning, Bolsonaro pledged to go ahead with the relocation, in addition to shuttering the Palestinian embassy in Brasilia.

Israeli Prime Minister Benamin Netanyahu, who visited Brazil at the end of December to attend the inauguration of he new president, heralded a ‘‘new era in relations between Israel and Brazil.’’

‘’We will strengthen our bilateral relations in economics, security and technology. A new era in relations between Israel and Brazil,” Netanyahu tweeted.
