Tourism boom in Israel: Thousands of new hotel rooms slated

“I am convinced that, with the momentum in hotel construction and the increase in incoming tourism, we will continue to see prosperity in the tourism industry,” said Israeli Tourism Minister Yariv Levin.

JERUSALEM—The tourism ministry will provide grants for the construction of thousands of new hotel rooms as tourism to the country hits record highs. “We are working to expand hotel room supply by offering financial assistance to entrepreneurs and approving grants for hotel construction. This is a response to the growth in incoming tourism and, at the same time, will ultimately lead to lower prices,”  Tourism Minister Yariv Levin said Thursday.

With a record 3.6 million tourist arrivals to Israel in 2017, Levin said he believed the construction of thousands of new rooms would enable tourism numbers to rise even further.

“I am convinced that, with the momentum in hotel construction and the increase in incoming tourism, we will continue to see prosperity in the tourism industry,” Levin said.
