IDF downs two missiles from Gaza aimed at kibbutz Nahal Oz

JERUSALEM—Israeli tanks and aircraft targeted Hamas installations in the northern Gaza Strip in response to the rocket fire, the military said in a statement.

Iron Dome batteries in southern Israel downed two missiles fired from the Gaza Strip Friday, with one additional rocket scoring a direct hit on a building at Kibbutz Nahal Oz, in Israeli territory.

No injuries were reported.

The incident began around 12:00 noon when Code Red sirens sounded in the area of Kibbutz Nahal Oz. Local emergency teams, including police bomb squads, responded to the sirens in order to ensure that no explosive material remained in the area.

In response to the rocket fire, local authorities in the Sha’ar Hanegev and Sadot Negev Regional Councils said that no special measures would be taken when school let out on Friday.

Palestinians reported that some missiles intended for Israel fell inside Gaza. No Israeli source could confirm the report.
