TEL AVIV--- Posters of abducted Israel soldier Gilad Shalit hang on a stage during a rally in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square on October 6, 2008. Hundreds of Israelis gathered for a rally in central Tel Aviv tonight to ask for Shalit's forgiveness ahead of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement.

Shalit was abducted by Palestinian in June 2006 and has since been held in the Gaza Strip, now controlled by the Islamist movement Hamas.
