BRUSSELS (EJP)---The French Presidency of the European Union has condemned the “heinous terrorist attack” on Wednesday in Jerusalem “in the strongest possible terms.”
A Palestinian man killed three people and wounded 45 more as he ploughed a bulldozer into buses and cars in central Jerusalem before being shot dead by Israeli police.
"The Presidency conveys its condolences to the families of the victims and their loved ones and expresses its sympathy and deepest solidarity to the people and government of Israel," an EU statement said.
"This unacceptable terrorist act does harm to all Israelis and all Palestinians," it added.
The EU Presidency called on Israeli and Palestinian leaders "to pursue their discussions, despite the violence, in order to swiftly take forward the ongoing negotiation process."
"Only this will pave the way to peace."
