BRUSSELS/PRAGUE (EJP)---The Czech presidency of the European Union has called a special dinner meeting next week on the current developments in the Middle East with Egyptian, Palestinian and Jordanian senior officials.

The meeting will take place on March 15 in Brussels.

The European Union will be represented by Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner and a representative of Sweden, the country which will hold the rotating EU presidency during the second half of this year.

Egypt will be represented by Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the Palestinian National Authority by Foreign Minister Riad Malki.

A representative of Jordan, whose name and office has not been specified, will also take part in the meeting.

“The objective of the dinner meeting is particularly the discussion of the current situation in Palestine and the role of Egypt in mediating the Middle East negotiations,” the EU presidency said.

A similar meeting took already place earlier this year.
